SAY
IT! HEAR IT! The Power of Effective Communication
It may come as a surprise, but
communicating with others is the one
activity you do more than any other - except for breathing.
No doubt there's plenty of communicating going on in your life.
But how effective is it? What results does it get you? Excellent communication
skills
are critical if you want to have a successful relationship, but
just because you have the
ability to speak doesn't mean you are effectively speaking, and your
ability to hear doesn't mean you're truly hearing what someone else is
saying to you. In this workshop, you will learn powerful
techniques to be better speakers and listeners by discovering more
about: What is it that you are really looking for when you communicate
with others? What gets in the way of our communication and how to
overcome it? And what's essential in all communication
interactions. This workshop is a must for those who want
to take their communication with others to the next level.
ENSURING
LIFE HARMONY -
Resolving Conflict and Creating Positive Change
Conflict. What do you
think of when you hear that word? How
does conflict make you feel? Conflict is inevitable - it's a
normal aspect of human interaction. Conflict arises from unmet
needs, unrecognized differences and difficulties in coping with life
changes and challenges. At the heart of every conflict are two
people striving for something better. Conflict will exist as long
people work and live together. This workshop explores why we
react to conflict the way we do and provides new perspectives around
how we approach conflict and can see it in a more positive light.
Strengths Performance Team Blend
Workshop
Using the Strengths Performance
Team Blend Workshop, Carrie leads
participants through four hours of thorough, motivating and interactive
learning. This workshop gives participants the knowledge, tools
and resources necessary to reach the next level of success in both
their business and personal life.
All businesses (and all
individuals within those businesses) experience
the most success when work is approached from the perspective of
maximizing strengths, rather than managing weaknesses. This is
the core premise behind Positive Psychology and Strengths Theory.
The Strengths Performance Team Blend Workshop results in increased
cooperation, respect, and trust within teams, as well as increased
employee engagement.
UPCOMING
WORKSHOP TOPICS
VISION
CASTING - Having a Big
Picture View of Your Future
Envisioning the future and
feeling connected to something larger than
we are means having an optimistic view and being able to articulate
what we want moving forward. Vision without action, of course, is
merely a dream. This workshop helps you look at how to take that
larger vision of what you want for yourself and translate that vision
into achievable short-term goals. You will learn to create focus,
eliminate distractions, identify priorities and keep your vision alive
at the forefront of your mind and heart.
Managing
Stress
We all experience stress from
time to time in our lives and we know how
stress can have a very negative effect on our short and long-term
health, performance, career success and personal happiness. But
believe it or not, stress can be eliminated from our lives. We
will certainly always continue to experience the pressures of life but stress isn't pressure.
Instead, stress is how we choose to react
to the pressures of life. Fortunately, stress management is a
learnable skill. The emphasis of this workshop will be to explore
the importance of good stress management and will approach the
management of stress through our actions, attitude, emotional responses
and our ways of living and coping with what cannot be resolved.
Work Life
Balance
Finding a balance between
individual work and personal life in today's
fast-paced world isn't easy. If you end up spending more time at
work than at home, you miss out on a rewarding personal life.
Then again, if you face difficulties in your personal life like caring
for others or relationship strife, focusing on your job can be
difficult. The problem can be too much focus on work or too
little. When your work life and your personal life feel out of
balance,
the result can be stress, burnout and depression. The good news
is that
you can take control of your work-life balance and this workshop will
offer you the techniques you need to help strike a balance as well as
carve out the time for the activities that are most important to
you.
Problem
Solving
It's easy to react to a problem
in the heat of the moment, quickly
placing 'band aids' on symptoms rather than causes of our ills.
Solutions are often buried deep behind the surface of issues. Our
approach to problems will determine whether we can yield the best
results. This workshop will show you what it takes to make sound
decisions and maintain integrity during difficult times. You will
also learn proven techniques to deal with problems so that you don't
operate from reaction-based conditioning.
Creativity
Fun, energy, creativity,
silliness and laughter are allowed and
encouraged in this workshop. True potential lies in bringing the
inner aspects of ourselves out into the open world. Discover the
part of yourself that doesn't judge, rationalize and think exhaustively
through every situation. Develop curiosity and set aside
preconceptions so that a more confident, spontaneous you can
emerge. Trust yourself more, take more risks, speak up and
remember what it was like to just play. This workshop will open
up all of these things for you.
Emotional
Intelligence
We are inherently social beings
and can meet with more success when we
have social awareness and can effectively manage the relationships
around us. This workshop will help to increase your
self-awareness in order to best manage your emotions. Learning to
communicate with passion and feel connected to your message will also
be explored. By detecting emotions, you will experience how to
bring out the best in others through your own empathy and enthusiasm.
Enhanced
Communication
Communicate with more
versatility. Break through communication
barriers. Recognize and respond to the communication styles of
others. Build trust and credibility while lowering defensiveness
and increasing cooperation in those around you. You will learn
all this and more in this powerful workshop.
Thriving in
the Midst of Change
& Risk
Every person responds
differently to change. Some thrive on
it. Others deplore it, doing everything in their power to
maintain the status quo. In this workshop, you will understand
the force behind change and learn to transition through it and focus on
what you can control in an uncertain world.
We're All
Leaders
Leadership is who we are and
what we do. The way we lead reflects
our values, natural strengths and skills. The goal is not to put
the leader 'in' you but to draw the leader 'out' of you. In this
workshop you will define the kind of leader you want to be and share
your vision for what your own leadership looks like, sounds like and
results in.
Perfectly You
It's simple in theory - be
yourself. As if you could be someone
you're not, right? The problem is, how many of us live our lives
from a place of our authentic selves? In this workshop, you'll be
empowered with powerful learning and tools to be yourself and spend
your life doing what you are most passionate about pursuing.
The Art of
Possibility
Possibility - that
all-encompassing, bigger-than-sky concept.
Sounds way too immense, but is it? What can we do to approach our
current lives differently? What can we do to change the outlook
we have for our lives and perhaps for the first time, see what's always
been possible? In this workshop, you will see what you've been
missing by shifting your focus and, for the first time, see the
opportunities that have been surrounding you the whole time.
Authentic
Happiness
What makes people positive,
generous, funny, kind or original?
Can we truly shift our attitudes and, from a new perspective, rebuild
the positive emotions we once possessed and also break from the
passivity we harbor about our futures? Happy people are
healthier, more productive and far more content. Could living
from a place of strength, originality and kindness in our everyday
interactions with others actually lead us to our share of the 'good
life?' This workshop will show you how!
WHAT PAST
WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT WORKSHOPS WITH CARRIE HOFFMAN
"Carrie Hoffman did a fabulous
job in her Strengths workshop for our HR group. She helped us
understand our strengths and how they apply to the work we do.
Everyone commented on how valuable the workshop was and how the new
information will allow us to concentrate on our strengths in our
work. We are very pleased with the result."
-- From Jacoline Beann, Sr.
Manager, Human Resources
Northrop Grumman Mission
Systems - DSO
"The Strengths Workshop that
Carrie conducted for us was extremely beneficial for us to not only
identify the strongest traits and attributes that we personally bring
to the team, but to learn about those in the rest of our team as
well. It was a great tool for helping us understand each other,
and for learning how to use each other's strengths for the good of the
team."
-- From Paul Stuckenbruck,
Communications Lead for ISR Systems Division
Northrop Grumman Mission Systems
"Carrie, thank you for
providing your workshop to our team. It was refreshing to focus
on our individual strengths rather than our weaknesses or improvement
areas. Now we each have a better idea of what strengths we bring
to the table. It was a great team building opportunity that
really hit home. I think we often focus on our individual
achievements since we are reviewed and rewarded on those individual
goals. The exercises were a great reminder that we really need to
be working together and utilize each member's strengths to reach our
full potential as a team. The entire experience was beneficial
and I believe each of us walked away with a positive outlook towards
each other and the team as a whole."
